Chocolate Energy Discs
Let’s get a little philosophical today.
There is an old European saying in France and Italy, which roughly translates to: “The guilty dog barks the loudest.”
This adage saying remains true even in today’s world, wherein dirty laundry is aired outside, character assassination is an everyday practice and some women spend all their energies to drag another down. Be it in politics (think: BJP leader Dayashankar Singh’s abusive remarks toward Mayawati), social media (think: Taylor Swift + Kimye debate) and even in our own personal relations.
An event can occur in one’s life that completely changes it; but interestingly enough, the effects are rippled into areas that seemingly appeared unrelated. Such is our society, and such is perhaps the lack of education. Sixth degree of separation makes our world smaller, but we forget words can fly both ways, and at a much faster speed than before.
Some argue that it is the only way to get your point across, while some say, silence is the most graceful, dignified and respectable way.
It’s a shame for our society to not move forward, for age to not mature, and for the undeserving cowards to scream for respite.
Our society’s reality is unfortunate; this is highlighted with a more honest and factual observation of today’s world in St. Vincent’s song, Birth in Reverse: “The dogs will bark, so let them bark.”
Now, back to Kitchen Therapy! This nutritional chocolate snack is a Godsend from Pinterest and a saviour on dreary office afternoons. They provide the perfect pick-me-up with an instant shot of sugar, with the nutritional values of the toppings.
Dark chocolate is an anti-oxidant that I can consume at any given time of the day (and in any quantity!); this quick bite is the only way I willingly eat my dried fruits and nuts. My mother likes to force feed them to me, and these discs have eased her job tremendously now.
- 200g dark chocolate
- ½ cup nuts, seeds, dried fruit mix
- Pinch of sea salt
- Melt the chocolate in a microwave (approx. 2-3 minutes).
- On a baking wax sheet or foil, create bite-sized circles of chocolate with a spoon.
- Immediately press some of the nuts-seeds-fruit mixture.
- Sprinkle a few flakes of sea salt on top.
- Let them set at room temperature (approx. 30-40 mins).
- Gently remove from the sheet and store in an airtight container at room temperature or the fridge.
