A box of beautiful red and pink Swiss chard landed up at my doorstep and it made my day! And reminiscent of my Kale Fried Rice, I wanted to play with garlic here. With ajar of ricotta lying in the fridge, it was like destiny had found us!
Here is a super simple, quick and easy recipe that has a bit of lemon zest to spruce it up and eating your greens never felt better!

- 1 cup pasta (uncooked) + its water
- 1 – 2 cups Swiss chard, chopped stem and leaves
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 100g ricotta cheese
- 2-3 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in salted water asper the box instructions
- Drain and reserve a cup of the pasta water
- In a large pan, heat the butter and olive oil with garlic and onions and cook gently for 5-7 minutes, until fragrant and garlic is crispy, then add the Swiss chard and sauté with salt for another 3-5 minutes
- Once this is done, throw in the cooked pasta and few spoons of the pasta water
- Then add the ricotta and cream, lemon zest, pinch of nutmeg and pepper
- Stir well to make everything is along with and stir to create a sauce
- Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil on top and serve
