Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
200g strawberries
2 tbsp raisins
1 tsp cardamom powder
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp corn flour or corn starch
TOPPING:
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup oats
1 tsp cardamom powder
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts
4 tbsp cold butter, cubed

There’s this thing about moving on in life with absolute grace and maturity – there are others around you who don’t. It is one of my life’s most ridiculous struggles to tune out the negativity that occasionally come to my attention. I say occasionally, because I am not one to indulge much in hearsay, because, really, who has the time? And I always get through them. However at times, it touches a nerve and it’s just exhausting and all I can do is laugh it off. Laughter has its own unique medicinal values – and a sure shot way of protecting your aura. Which is why, I make it a conscious decision to pick the right people around me, read the right stuff and say my graces every single morning – an integral part of #HyggeLiving and hence this series!

And, how can I go through strawberry season and not share even one recipe with it?

This is almost a joke of a recipe – because all it is really is, is an assembly of ingredients to create one beautiful, gorgeous warm dessert, that tingles the soul. The beauty of the strawberries is that it does not need pre-poaching and is THE go-to quickie dessert!

Fresh strawberries and raisins tossed in corn starch and some freshly pound cardamom because it is still winter for me, placed into a baking dish and then topped with a lovely crunchy buttery topping that includes oats, nuts and more cardamom…    

Note: to make this gluten free, substitute the flour and oats with gluten free rolled oats

Toss the strawberries and raisins with corn flour, cardamom and brown sugar
Place in a small baking dish
In a separate bowl, stir the flour, oats, cardamom powder, brown sugar and nuts together
Add the butter and rub into the mixture to create a coarse texture
Sprinkle the mixture on top and bake in a preheated oven of 200C for 15 minutes, or until golden brown
